A complete redesign of Monark.com.pe
Year :
2025
Industry :
Fitness and Cycling
Client :
Monark
Project Duration :
3 months

Problem & Objectives
Problem:
Monark, traditionally known for its bicycles, wanted to reposition itself as a comprehensive fitness brand. The existing website had several issues:
Limited Brand Perception: Users primarily associated Monark with bicycles, unaware of their full fitness equipment range.
Low User Engagement: Visitors struggled to find relevant products and personalized recommendations.
Confusing Navigation: The website structure did not guide users efficiently through the product selection process.
Conversion Challenges: Lack of tailored guidance reduced potential sales and user satisfaction.
These problems prevented Monark from effectively reaching and engaging its target audience in the fitness equipment market.
The primary objectives were to:
Promote Monark's full range of fitness products.
Implement a personalized survey to recommend products based on user needs.
Increase user engagement and conversion rates by providing tailored product suggestions.

Research & Strategy
User Journey Mapping
We identified a five-phase user journey:
Exploration: Users recognize a need and search for solutions.
Searching: Users read reviews and compare options.
Onboarding: Users select a brand and explore offerings.
Ongoing: Users experience progress and seek complementary products.
Uplifting: Users achieve goals and consider upgrading.
Persona Development
We created a persona named "Mónica," representing a typical user unfamiliar with fitness equipment, seeking guidance to select the right products.
Storyboarding
Storyboarding helped visualize Mónica's journey, highlighting pain points and opportunities to improve the user experience.

Design & Development
We developed a clear site map and navigation structure to ensure a logical, user-friendly layout. This facilitated easy access to product categories, services, and resources, enhancing overall usability.

After creating the site map, we began developing wireframes. In our initial wireframes, we carefully considered the client’s budget constraints and chose to work with a pre-existing WordPress template.

To tailor the design to Monark’s specific needs, we customized selected components and elements while preserving the original structure, ensuring both efficiency and a cohesive user experience.
We implemented an interactive survey that provided personalized product recommendations based on user inputs, helping guide visitors toward the right fitness equipment for their goals. The website featured dynamic product pages with detailed information on features, benefits, and specifications, making it easier for users to compare and select the products they needed. We prioritized a user-centric design, creating a clean and intuitive interface that led visitors smoothly through their fitness journey.
To ensure that the personalized survey provided accurate results based on the user's preferences and needs, we designed a user flow that mapped out the different paths that the user could take depending on their answers. By creating a clear user flow, we identified potential pain points and areas for improvement, and made adjustments to the survey to optimize the user experience. This process allowed us to tailor the results of the survey to the user's specific preferences, ultimately resulting in a more personalized and effective user experience.
How does the personalized form work?
The personalized form is a tool that allows users to specify their preferences and needs in order to receive tailored product recommendations. The form begins with a question that asks the user to select the activity they are interested in, with options such as working out from home, transportation, extreme sports, or recreational activities.

If the user selects transportation, they will be prompted to answer additional questions regarding their gender, age, height, weight, and budget. These details will help to narrow down the list of potential products that meet their specific needs.
Finally, the user will be asked to specify the type of ground they plan to use the product on, with options such as road surface, rocky road, or trail road. Based on all of the information provided by the user, the personalized form will generate a list of products that meet their criteria, ensuring that the user is presented with the most relevant options for their needs.
Example
First question:
What activity would you like to do?
Workout from Home
Transportation
Extreme Sport
Recreational
If the user chooses transportation, then the
Second question:
Gender, age, height, weight and budget
Third question:
Type of ground
Road Surface
Rocky Road
Trail Road
Results:
Depending on the user's choices, different products will be displayed.
Finally, the site was built on WooCommerce, providing robust e-commerce functionality for product management, inventory tracking, and seamless sales.
